Baby Check (6-8 Weeks)
All babies should have a Health Check, carried out by our Doctors when they are 6-8 weeks old. We usually book this appointment just before your baby has their first 8 week immunisations, so you can do this all on the same day. The GP will also carry out a post natal check for the mother after the baby check.
This is an important thorough physical health check including the eyes, heart, hips and testicles (in boys), in order to act on any concerns early.
Please remember to bring your Personal Child Health Record (also known as the ‘Red Book’) with you.
If you have concerns about your baby at any time you should always contact your health visitor or GP.

Cervical Screening
Cervical screening (a smear test) is a test to check the health of the cervix and help prevent cervical cancer. It’s offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64, every three years as a minimum, and more regularly if advised.
When invited or eligible, you will either be able to book online, or you can call us to book an appointment with a practice nurse.
Medication Review
Medication reviews are aligned, where possible, annually, for your birth month.
For certain long term conditions, you will be invited to attend for any required investigations followed by a nurse review (if relevant) in your birth month. Subsequently, you will be booked for a medication review with our practice-based Clinical Pharmacist. Please see below.
Patients on regular medications for conditions that do not fall under this process, will need to book a medication review by your prescription review date (where possible, we will try and align to your birth month also).
If your monitoring is up to date and you are getting on well with your medications and they are appropriate and safe, you may be sent a medication review questionnaire to help identify any issues and if not, these maybe reauthorised remotely.
Travel information
We do offer travel advice, assessment of need and NHS travel vaccinations free of charge. Please see the below process to follow.
Travel Advice
Please take a look at the Travel Health Pro website and access the relevant information for your country of travel.
2. Travel Assessment
Contact the surgery to arrange a telephone appointment with a nurse for an initial assessment AT LEAST 6 WEEKS before departure.
We will ask questions relating to your travel plans to assess your risk and advise you on which vaccinations you may require.
The 6-week lead time is required to order your vaccinations and to ensure you are fully protected for your trip.
If you contact us LESS THAN 6 WEEKS before your travel date, you will be advised to seek travel vaccinations from a private travel clinic.
There may be other vaccinations that we recommend based on your assessment. We DO NOT currently administer these. However, they are privately available at specialist travel clinicsand will incur a charge.
If anti-malaria medication is required, this can be done on a private prescription or accessed through a pharmacist; both routes would incur a fee.
